Alina Nalyvayko

Staff Research Associate

Alina Nalyvayko [she/her], Staff Research Associate, to the Javid and Metcalfe Labs. Alina grew up in Ukraine (you have probably heard about it from the news). After immigrating to the US, she studied Biochemistry at UC Davis. There she discovered her love for hypothesis-driven research, especially through studying rice genetics in Dr. Pamela Ronald's laboratory.

Upon graduation, Alina developed new varieties of Brassica crops at Bayer Crop Science. However, with the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to dedicate her efforts to a very pertinent issue of infectious disease.

When not in the lab, Alina is likely exploring the outdoors (hiking or climbing), listening to live music, or going on a culinary adventure.
