Demi Sandel
Graduate Student Researcher
Demi grew up in Louisiana and graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Louisiana Tech University in 2017, where she did research in Dr. Jamie Newman’s lab studying the role of Notch signaling in regulating adult stem cell state and differentiation. She then moved to Boston and worked for 3 years as a research technician in Dr. Tyler Jacks’ lab at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT. While in the Jacks lab, she worked on several immunology projects studying various aspects of human lung adenocarcinoma using genetically engineered mouse models.
Demi is now a third year Ph.D. candidate in the UCSF Biomedical Sciences program where she is co-mentored by Dr. Matt Spitzer and Dr. Rachel Rutishauser. She loves all things immunology, especially CD8+ T cells!
Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends and family, and exploring the city.
