Josephine Reijneveld, PhD
Postdoctoral Scholar
Josephine (she/her/hers) grew up in The Netherlands and attended Utrecht University for both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in 2011. Her first lab job was working on prophylactic IgA antibody therapy against RSV infection under Dr. Jeanette Leusen. During her masters she also went to Australia for an internship in the Jennings lab at Griffith University, where she worked on glycan interaction with intermedilysin produced by Streptococcus intermedius.
Josephine joined the Immunology department at Utrecht University as a PhD student and completed her degree in 2021. Her research was conducted in Professor Branch Moody’s lab at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston under the supervision of Dr. Ildiko Van Rhijn. Here she worked on the recognition of mycobacterial lipids presented by CD1 to human T cells, as well as the antigen independent recognition of CD1 by T cells. As a postdoc in Dr. Sara Suliman’s lab she will continue working on tuberculosis research.
When not in the lab, Josephine can be found hiking and exploring the city.
